Leading up to SharePoint Conference 2012 in Las Vegas, we are planning to feature our contributing authors and what they will be doing at the conference. We may also include a few who can’t make it to the conference but what they would like to see others get out of it.

Editor's note: Contributor Brett Lonsdale is a Co-Founder of Lightning Tools and Co-host of www.sharepointpodshow.com. Follow him @brettlonsdale

2012-11-04-BrettLonsdale-01.pngLightning Tools are excited to be exhibiting at this year’s Microsoft SharePoint Conference in Las Vegas and will be sending some of their team to show off our recent SharePoint Apps, Tools and Web Parts. Brett Lonsdale, Nick Swan (SharePoint MVP), Phill Duffy, and Sandy Ussia will be at the event speaking, attending and representing our own SharePoint products from the Lightning Tools booth.

Nick Swan will be presenting “How to write a cloud-hosted app for SharePoint with Ruby on Rails”. This session will demonstrate how you can build a cloud-hosted app for SharePoint with Ruby on Rails. This session will cover how to connect to data sources and use the SharePoint REST end-points within a Ruby on Rails app.

Lightning Tools have two Apps already in the Microsoft App Store (Lightning Chat and Social Squared). Lightning Chat provides end users of SharePoint with an instant chat tool within the context of a SharePoint site. Social Squared provides a feature rich enterprise discussion forum providing a fully featured forum tool to replace the out-of-the-box SharePoint Discussion List.

Richard Young from Lightning Tools will be on hand to talk through our range of products as well as to demonstrate the latest release of “Meta Man” and “DeliverPoint”.  Meta Man is a standalone tool providing connection to almost any external data source without the requirement of writing code. DeliverPoint is an in-context SharePoint permissions management tool aimed at SharePoint Site Owners and Site Collection Administrators.

Lightning Tools are also giving away 100 copies of  “SharePoint 2010 Business Connectivity Services” by Microsoft Press authored by Penny Coventry (SharePoint MVP), Brett Lonsdale and Phill Duffy. Make sure you are at Lightning Tools booth (1111) at 1pm each day to get your hands on your own signed copy. Remember all the ones! Booth 1111 and 1pm!

You’ll also find Brett Lonsdale and Nick Swan along with SharePoint MVP Rob Foster at the SharePointPodShow.com booth.
